2025 Club Championship Pairs Final
The Club Championship Pairs Final was held on Saturday 19th July 2025, we were very lucky with the weather, a couple of showers, as rain and thunderstorms were predicted all week,
Unfortunately our Chairman Keith Sproston who organises the Club Championship Competitions was not well and unable to attend, thankfully he is feeling a lot better now.
The quarter finals of both the main and consolation were played with some very competitive bowling and close games. This led to in the main competition a semi final between Pauline & Dave Rimmer v Noreen Lewis & John Townsend and a semi final between Louise Draper & Dave Williams v Janice Hobson & Tony Wakefield (who had at the last minute stepped in for Keith). Pauline & Dave and Louise & Dave both won through to play in the main final. This was a very close game with some excellent bowling, Louise and Dave came through to beat last year’s champions 21-18. Congratulations to Louise Draper and Dave Williams our 2025 Club Championship Pairs Winners.
The semi finals of the consolation competition were between Sue Davies & Jim Abram v Nancy McDade and Allen Mountford and Ann Tweddell & Gary Hayes v Jackie Jackson & Derek Madden. Sue & Jim and Jackie & Derek both won through to play in the final. Again some excellent bowling but the sister and brother duo Sue & Jim beat Jackie & Derek 21-10. Congratulations to our 2025 Club Championship Consolation Winners Sue Davies & Jim Abram.
The committee would like to thank all the competitors who help to make this a very enjoyable event. We would like to give special thanks to Joe Kelly (Mr. BBQ 🍗) and his assistant Brenda for providing once again an excellent BBQ and to all the people who helped prepare the food and clean up. Also this year Pat & Brian Jones, long time members of the club, were celebrating 60 years of marriage and they very kindly brought wine and beer for us to enjoy and raise a glass to them. Happy 60th Anniversary x.
