Chairman’s Random Pairs Competition 2025

Message from our Chairman Keith Sproston (The Boss)

I was so pleased to see so many members turn out yesterday to support this event. Again the club produced a great atmosphere and good bowling. The weather was cold but at least no rain.

Thanks to Pat McArthur for being my partner for the day, she played well in two difficult games. Also thanks to my hair stylist for giving me an unusual warn out look (lol) Thanks to everyone for their help and support for this event.

Report on Chairman’s Random Pairs Competition 

What a turn out on Easter Saturday 32 players with some very strong pairings this trophy could be anyone’s. After our first round matches the losing pairs went into the consolation competition, with some close matches. The final was between Jackie Jackson and Derek Madden v Ray Lowe and Roy Cropper and after a close match Ray and Roy won 21-16.

The main competition was very competitive and the semi finals were between Janice Hobson and Jim Abram v Pat Cropper and Brian Jones and Noreen Lewis and Dave Williams v Brenda Gillings and Dave Rimmer. Two very tight matches Janice and Jim came through to win 21-20 and Noreen and Dave won 21-18. The final was very close and although Janice and Jim took an early lead Noreen and Dave came back and after being 19 across they won the last end 21-19 a really good final. Congratulations to Noreen Lewis and Dave Williams.

Thanks to everyone who helped on the day, ladies who made sandwiches, people who ran the raffle and helped in the kitchen.  This day couldn’t happen without your support thank you all. And thanks to Sue Davies who kept the competition running.
